Success Stories
Bridging the Employment Gap
Partner: Love Columbia, City of Columbia, Chamber of Commerce
When workforce barriers kept qualified candidates from essential municipal positions, we identified a critical bottleneck: the City's 11-week hiring process and 3-week payment timeline created insurmountable gaps for job-seekers living paycheck to paycheck.
By bringing together Love Columbia, the City of Columbia, and the Chamber of Commerce, we created a bridge program that supports candidates through the transition period with temporary financial assistance while addressing systemic barriers in the hiring process itself.
"This partnership transformed our approach to workforce development. Instead of just helping clients find jobs, we're now changing the systems that keep them from succeeding. The foundation's strategic thinking and collaborative approach made this possible."
— Executive Director, Love Columbia
Results
85% increase in retention for entry-level municipal positions
Hiring process reduced from 11 weeks to 7 weeks
42 families achieved economic stability through living-wage employment
Model being adapted for Route B industrial employers
Success Stories
Collaborative Mental Health Response
Partner: Multiple Community Organizations
Mental health crises were overwhelming local emergency services, creating financial strain on the healthcare system while failing to connect individuals with appropriate care.
We convened healthcare providers, law enforcement, mental health specialists, and social service agencies to develop a coordinated crisis response system that diverts non-violent mental health emergencies to appropriate care settings.
"The foundation challenged us to move beyond our silos and create something none of us could accomplish alone. Their facilitation of difficult conversations and commitment to measuring outcomes transformed how we address mental health in our community."
— CEO, Regional Healthcare System
